Description Organic hemp hurd for hempcrete, a breathable and carbon-negative building material.

Hemp Hurd for Hempcrete

Our hemp hurd is the clean, inner woody core of the hemp stalk, grown organically in the Midwest with no chemicals or pesticides. It is lightweight, breathable, and ideal for mixing with lime and water to create hempcrete.

A typical hempcrete mix uses one part hemp hurd, 1.5 parts lime, and two parts water. The result is a natural, non-toxic building material that is durable, moisture-regulating, and long-lasting.

Benefits Fire resistant, breathable, mold resistant, and sustainable.

  • 100% organic Midwest- grown hemp
  • Dust-free, fiber-free, clean hurd
  • Approx. 1/2" average size for consistent mixes
  • Excellent thermal and sound insulation
  • Naturally anti-mold and anti-fungal
  • Breathable and moisture regulating
  • Carbon-negative building material
  • Fire resistance rated up to 2 hours

Why Choose Hempcrete a safer, greener alternative to traditional concrete.

Hempcrete is a sustainable alternative to conventional concrete and insulation. It provides strong thermal performance, resists moisture and odors, and contains no toxic chemicals or off-gassing materials.

Hemp hurd smolders rather than ignites, releasing very little heat or smoke. Independent testing shows hempcrete walls can resist fire exposure for up to two hours, making it a safer choice for eco-friendly homes.

Zoe ★★★★★

I used this for a small garden wall project, and the hurd was consistently sized and free of dust or debris. It mixed evenly with the lime binder, making the pour much smoother than the last batch I tried.

Olivia C. ★★★★★

Bought this to insulate a small cabin wall and the hurd mixed up clean with no dust or stalks to pick out. The pieces are consistently sized, which made tamping way easier than the last batch I used. Took a bit longer to ship, but the quality is worth it.

Penelope F. ★★★★★

Working with this hurd was a pleasure—it's a consistent, clean inner woody core that mixed beautifully into my hempcrete. Knowing it's organic and grown right here in the Midwest makes the whole build feel better. My walls are drying nicely and are surprisingly breathable.
